The International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS), Biomedical Research Education Trust (BRET) and Laboratory Animals Ltd are sponsoring scholarships to individuals presenting an abstract at the SAALAS International conference to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, 1 – 3 November 2017. The scholarships will support the participation of delegates from Africa and other developing countries.
The scholarships will cover the costs for the conference registration fee, gala dinner, accommodation and meals. The delegates will be responsible for travel costs, visas and any other costs not mentioned. Priority will be given to delegates from African countries who face financial impediments to attend international meetings and whose participation will further the conference aim of establishing a LAS network in Africa.
The application must include:
- A one-page CV,
- Biography of no more than 250 words
- Colour photo (JPEG format of at least 300 DPI)
- A letter of motivation for scholarship application,
- An abstract for presentations as either a poster or oral presentation at the conference (in the above mentioned key areas of focus).
Individuals who are awarded scholarships will be expected to attend the gala dinner. African country delegates with knowledge of the state of LAS within their country or region will be invited to the Friday post conference discussion. ICLAS sponsored scholarships will need to be present at the ICLAS general assembly on 31 October 2017.
